The cookie lover award! | MeWrites

Hello and happy day! Welcome to my corner of the InTeRnEt!

(I’m in a funny mood today:)

I’ve been working on this post for a while (my blogging schedule be like: 😑) and it is finally out 😅

I got nominated for this award by Heidi (@hiedilane), which… how does she know how much I love cookies?!

It’s weird.

Anyways, let’s get started!

🍪Rules:🍪

  • Thank the person/fellow cookie lover who nominated you! (or whose blog you found out about this award through) (thank you Hiedi! 🧡ily)
  • Answer the cookie-related questions and add one of your own!
  • Share some pictures of cookies you adore! (can be pics you’ve taken or ones from online, just be sure to give credit where credit is due.)
  • Nominate 5 or more bloggers who love cookies and leave an open nomination for every cookie lover around the world! (Oh I will)

🍪Questions:🍪

  1. what are your top three favourite types of cookies?

I would say triple chocolate cookies, double chocolate cookies, and chocolate chip cookies. (I have a slight obsession with chocolate. Can you tell?)

2. What’s a cookie you haven’t tried yet but REALLY want to?

um…. *googles cookie flavours* M&M cookies. They sound sooo good….

*tummy rumbles*

3. What’s the last type of cookie you ate?

a sugar cookie. For snack. At school. My resolution to eat healthy.. not thriving. (But I eat in small amounts, so it’s fine:)

4. If you were a cookie, which kind would you be and why? (i.e. chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, macaroon, peanut butter, etc)

triple chocolate chip. But then I would feel tempted to eat myself, so maybe s’more. But then if I ever met a chocolate cookie I would eat them. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

5. Why do you love cookies?

Um. Whaaa

Because I love the taste 😋

6. Flora‘s Question: What’s one cookie you’re not so keen on (you dislike)?

I wouldn’t say I’m “not keen” on these, but I really don’t like Jammy Dodgers :/

7. Haley‘s Questions: What is the best cookie recipe you’ve made?

Oh god, this is such a long story… I made cookies with my cousin once and we forgot the butter! But they came out great. Since then I’ve always been a bit apprehensive about butter (No offense butter.. I don’t need you for my cookies anymore.)

8. Tanatswa‘s Question: If you could make a three tier cookie desert, which cookie would be on your first tier?

triple chocolate chip. (and then double, then single 😉

9. Alexandria‘s Question: Have you ever made cookies?

umm. yea. 😊

Hiedi’s question: Have you ever mixed brownie batter and cookie dough to make brookies/crownies?

no… but I love both and I’m gonna bake today, so maybe I’ll give it a go! ❤

my question: if you could have one piece of cookie-themed furniture, what would it be? (random I know!)

🍪cookie pics!🍪

*goes and has lunch because stomach can not physically endure anymore*

*comes back 2 hours later*

🍪ok, actually time for some cookie pics🍪

As you guys probably know, I’m obsessed with choc chip cookies. (Single, double and triple!)

So yea.

🍪my nominations🍪

if any of you guys don’t do awards/tags, that’s fine 😀 just let me know you’ve seen this post 🙂

I hope you guys had a really great week and I will see you again very soon when.. you know what? I’m gonna keep y’all in

✨suspense✨

but I will be seeing you again. Soon.

(remember if you do this award, link it in the comments. I wanna read!!)

Write In Style, Write In 21! — Draw-Write-Inspire

Hi guys! I just spontaneously decided to write a verse of poetry today, and then later I realized I hadn’t done my entry for this contest! But anyways, um… this is my entry for the 21 word story/poem contest. If you wanna look into the rules n stuff, then definitely click this to see all the details 😉

So yea. My entry. If you know me irl, then you probably know I don’t really like sharing my writing, but.. yeah. If it’s rubbish, then I have one defense;

this was written spontaneously during lunch at school.

Um. Let’s just get into it:)

Curtains are drawn,
The road is dark,
The glowing warmth
Fills my heart. 🧡

Birthday haul! | what I got for my birthday | MeWrites

Hi guys! So as you guys probably know, it was my birthday a few days ago! I’m officially 12 (well I’ve been 12 for a while now, but I’m really late on my editing stuff lol)

So today I will be showing you what I got for my 12th birthday. Enjoy!🤍

Let’s get into it!

I got a lot of stuff for my birthday, so I’m going to divide it up into categories.

From my family 🤍

So I got this purse and this necklace when we went on holiday, from my parents, and I love them both!

The gold butterfly necklace is from my sibling, who bought it with their own money! I am so grateful and touched (understatment of the year!) and I love all of these so, so much!

I also got some money from my relatives! One of them has a blog, you can find it HERE

From my outside-of-school friends

So from my friends who I don’t go to school with, I got this tie-dye kit which is the one I am going to use in my 20 followers celebration post

I also got this bag which is SOO cute! And I use it a lot but sadly, it can’t fit my phone inside. Still a great bag though!

School friend #1 (this is at random btw)

So my first friend (not first best, but first whose gift was on the pile in my room😅) gave me this:

So they gave me this stationery set (i love stationery!) and it has a notebook, a to-do list (which I will definitely be using!) a pencil, a pack of post-it notes, and some clip-thingy’s!

And they made this pineapple (stitched it) and also made this keyring (which I think is sooo pretty!) Oh and also, they gave me some little pink heart earrings💝

Friend #2 (again, random!)

Gave me this:

Do you see this?! This bracelet is.. everything, and I also got mascara (which I’ve been wanting for a while), lip gloss (it says lip gloss but it’s lip stick I do believe) and clear lip gloss (edit: I used this and it really stings… maybe that’s just me) and these are all things I will definitely be using, (another edit: I tried the mascara and it got EvErYwHeRe, I won’t be trying again for a while…)even though school is starting soon, so I really don’t know when.

But still, so thoughtful and I love it!

(one more edit : I learned how to use the mascara! I don’t get myself into a huge mess anymore lol)

Friend #3

So one of my friends got me new Sharpies (which is perfect because the ones I have are dYiNg) and I cannot wait to use these!

So this is a cross-stitch kit and I am definitely going to be saving this for like when I come home and I’ve had a bad day and I can just sit and do this ! (this makes bad days better.)

Friend #4 (also very random!!)

Gave me money! Which I’m so grateful for because that means I can reach my savings goal this month (with money to spare!!)ILYYYY

Friend #5 (still random!!)

I will be using this. Tonight.

This is like a shower gel that’s supposed to make you sleepy, and also a night-time moisturizer (also supposed to make you sleepy, i’ll let you know how it goes!)

This’ll definitely help because I literally lie in bed for like an hour before I can sleep 😄😆

Update : I used it! Review coming soon!

What I got from me 😂

I treated myself!

So I got this bEaUtIfUl wallet/wristlet and I really really like this because I think it’s so aesthetic and pretty and I still can’t believe that I own this!!

As you can see, I also got earrings.

To sum these up in a few words;

The key to my heart is in fact earrings. 🤍

(if you didn’t get it.. I don’t know what to say to you.)

I also bought a pop-socket for my phone because … I really like it!

As you can see, I also bought some fake nails and I am SO excited because I think these are re-usable (like the sticky doesn’t get un-sticky(?) and.. that will help!) and they’re also SUPER CUTE

As you can see I covered up the label of where they’re from, but I will tell you in another post.

Again, I covered up the label but LoOk At ThEsE makeup brushes!

Aren’t these the most pretty, aesthetic thing ever?

I think they are.

So that’s it for today (I literally can’t wait to use all this stuff!!) and I will see you guys next time!

Why I haven’t been posting lately… | MeWrites

Hi guys. I had a whole schedule for September and I’m not following it. Oh well.

vibes out to Sour for 15 minutes

So this post is basically just telling you guys I am going to be a bit inconsistent because I am officially back to school!

I have less time in the day now, so I can’t post and edit as regularly as I used to. (Also… I have homework you guys :/)

So ummm if I’m really inconsistent, then… that’s why. Just wanted to pop in and tell you guys I am still online and working on a few things, but I have less time to work on them so I can’t post as regularly as I would like to.

I wish I was like those bloggers who are really productive and manage to be consistent as well as balancing school and homework with blogging, but I am kinda all over the place right now. So um. Yea.

Please just bear with me while I try to get my life back together.

Just wanted to let you guys know, I’m not exactly taking a break, more like I’m going to be posting less consistently. I’ll probably do a post a week on each blog, maybe more on here, but ummmmm

no promises 😕

so yea, that kinda wraps up this post. I’m still here! But not as much as I would like to be 🙁 also I have a sore throat. Sad.

Anyways, that’s it for today. As I said earlier, I’m trying to figure it out, just bear with me for a while….

love you guys!

bye!

My aesthetic for September | Collab with Evin! 🤍

Hi! Welcome (or welcome back!) to my blog!

Today is super special because I am collabbing with Evin(@A Curly Sue’s Ramblings) one of my favourite bloggers on WordPress!

Fun fact : we have been working on this for about a month now. I had a lot of trouble coming up with post ideas 😅 but she suggested this post and… here we are!

My aesthetic for September

To match my bullet journal, my aesthetic will be warm tones (like red and orange!) and autumn!

So after you read this, go read Evin’s post here and tell her I sent you!🤍

Aesthetic photos:

The pics at the top (the coffee and the hedgehog candles) are actually my photos! I am drinking this coffee while writing this post (it’s an iced latte with loads of sugar from Starbucks) and I randomly decided to take photos of the hedgehog candles I have in my room because I thought they were pretty aesthetic, because hedgehogs and Autumn…. idk. I think this pretty much sums up my aesthetic for Autumn, so…

Lookbook

So I absolutely love Autumn and one of my favourite parts is wearing a big oversized coat!

(Not my photos!)

So that’s pretty much my main look for September. I know it’s not much but I have to wear a uniform to school, so I basically only wear proper outfits on weekends (or when I see my friends after school sometimes:)

Top 3 songs

The songs I’m listening to this September ( yes, they’re all from HSMTMTS 😅):

I’ve basically been listening to these songs on repeat but if you want to see a bigger playlist, be sure to tell me in the comments 😃

Food!

So I literally HaD to add this in because for me, apple pie is so special because once in a while on a cold Autumn evening, my family watches some TV together and eats apple pie (which we all love!) and these are the BeSt ViBezZ

I’m not really sure what else to put into this post, so let me know if I missed anything!

hopefully I’ll see u guys next time 😜🤍

this is your reminder to check out Evin’s blog!

love u guys 💖

bye!

My September BuJo spread | MeWrites

Hi everyone! Today is the first day of September and I am going to be showing you guys my September BuJo spread, because…. I already drew it out earlier when I was bored 😀

I actually got inspired a few months ago (July I think?) by @Miriam to start bullet journalling but I didn’t actually do it until one day when I walked into a shop with my friend (ily!!!) and I saw like a whole bullet journalling kit and I had money to buy it, so… I bought it, and then I started, so… ty Miriam! 🤍

So my theme for this month is Autumn, (last month it was space!) and I absolutely love Autumn, like it’s my favourite season ever (am I a bit biased because my birthday’s in Autumn? Maybe😉)so I really wanted to make the first season of Autumn based on Autumn.( does that make sense?)

So…. my cover page. I normally take up 2 pages for my cover page, because I just like to spread it out.

So ummm… this is my spread (ignore the wood background. That’s my desk) for this month.

Then I have my quote for this month, which you can see below, and my mood tracker (I only showed one week of this) So at the time of writing this, it was Monday, so I had just filled it in. (I had to do the end of August and also the start of September.)

About the quote – I know. Shine. Shiny787. I’ll explain in a future post😉

Then below, I have my blog spread which I haven’t filled in yet, because… no spoilers, but I do have most of September’s posts planned out and I even have one scheduled, which (for me) means I am very on my grind (that makes me happy)

I also have a “brain dump” spread, which is where I just write down whatever comes in my head. I love doing this, it’s really relaxing, and I definitely recommend you try it.

So in case you were wondering, this is my bullet journal, and I absolutely love it.

And yet again,

ShInE

😆

So that is it for today, and I hope you guys enjoyed this because I had a lot of fun making this spread and doing the photography, so… yea.

Thanks again to @Miriam for inspiring this bullet journal, and if you haven’t already, then definitely check out some of her spreads (you can find her August one here).

I hope you guys have a great month and a great back to school season, and I cannot wait to be making more content for you guys in the new month, new academic year, and also I’m turning 12 (birthday haul coming up😉) so… can’t wait!

Bye for now!

5 fun facts about Koalas | MeWrites

Hi guys! When you read this, I will be on holiday, so I decided to schedule this post because I really didn’t want to skip out on this week, because I really enjoy making these posts for you guys. As you may have noticed, this is 5 fun facts because I don’t have the time to be doing a whole 10 but I hope you guys enjoy anyways, and let’s just get into it.

5 I hope you guys enjoy!

  1. Koalas are not bears! They’re marsupials. A marsupial is an animal that is born incomplete and is yet to develop. They often don’t actually do anything for themselves until they are fully formed.
  2. The word “koala” is thought to come from an aboriginal term meaning, “no drink“. People think this because it is believed that koalas get all their moisture from the leaves they eat. They don’t drink much water. (sounds like me.😆)
  3. Koalas can sleep up to 18 hours – yea! The eucalyptus leaves they eat are low in energy, so they sleep a lot to conserve their energy.
  4. Koalas are warm-blooded. This is because when it gets too cold, they need to expend extra energy to produce metabolic heat.

And… that’s it! I’m just going to edit this rn and then I will schedule it and you will see it on Sunday!

Bye for now, see you tomorrow to vote for next week’s animal!🤍

10 fun facts about butterflies!

Hi guys! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! I’m so happy you’re here! Today I am doing 10 fun facts about butterflies!

So in one of my posts I did, I told you guys that I would be bringing back my 10 fun facts about animals posts – and I am! This week I chose butterflies, because… I love butterflies, and…. here it is!

I hope you enjoy!

  1. This might come as a surprise to you, but butterflies don’t have a very long lifespan! The breed of butterfly with the longest lifespan is the Mourning Cloak, which lives up to eleven months as an adult. The shortest lifespan is of the Copper butterfly and also the Small blues butterflies. In fact, they only live in their adult states for around a few days!
  2. This is going to shock you. Butterflies can’t fly if they’re cold! If their body temperature is less than around 30 degrees, it will be completely immobile!! (Maybe that’s why I only see butterflies in summer!!)
  3. Butterflies taste with their feet! Most of you might know that because I actually found that out a couple of weeks ago from a TV show I was watching. But if you didn’t know that, then…. there you are!
  4. Leading on from number 2, butterflies need to be warm to fly. Their energy comes from being warm. Have you ever seen a butterfly resting in the sun? That’s it warming up its wings, getting ready to fly away again.
  5. Butterflies can see lots of colours and hues that humans can’t!
  6. You think butterflies have two wings? Nope! Actually, they have 4!
  7. Butterflies and moths are part of the same group of insects! In fact, studies show that butterflies actually evolved from moths!
  8. Butterflies are the “theme” for SOUR by Olivia Rodrigo – and I definitely do not have a post coming up about that, so ….
  9. Butterflies and moths’ wings are made of lots of little scales that projects the light in an interesting way so that the butterfly’s wings appear a different colour than they really are.
  10. Leading on from that, there was actually a project I heard about from @Vinaya Kurtkoti (who I actually know personally🤍) and she told me that there was this project where some people poured alcohol on a blue butterfly and it was actually green! when the alcohol came off, it was blue again. Can you believe that?

So anyways, that’s all I have for you guys today, I hope you guys enjoyed and I will see you guys tomorrow…

Comment which was your favourite fact!

What’s in my purse?

Hi guys! So because I’m trying to stick to my blogging schedule, I am doing a random fun post today – what’s in my purse?

Not my image.

So I have multiple purses actually, but I usually pick one and use that one bag for the month, or the week. This month of August I have been using this bag;

It is a cream shoulder bag, and it has a silver glittery star on the flap.

I have two keyrings on my bag; one is a square keyring which says “Home is where my dog is”, and the other one is a bottle of hand sanitizer, which has a rubber doughnut on it.

So… the first thing in my bag is my phone – I can’t really take a picture of my phone (because I take photos on my phone…..)

I also have my wallet – I’m not going to tell you guys how much money I have because it’s honestly kind of embarrassing….. I’m not good at saving.

Then I also have an extendable bag which my best friends gave me, (you know who you are, thank you so much!!)

I also have two lollipops (I love lollipops!) and a mint (yea, it’s in a wrapper, don’t worry) I don’t really like mints usually, but sometimes I save them for my friends who love them.

Next… gum. I have a box of gum in my purse – I only have one stick left, but I’ll probably buy more soon.

I have… a facemask. Of course. I always carry a facemask. Always.

I also have a mini nail file, and a pen because I always feel like I end up needing a pen somehow. As for the nail file…. I have very long nails and they break. A lot. Like a lot. Like when I open a zip, my nails, they don’t like it. At all. They either literally plunge themselves into the zipper or they get caught on… something. Not a day goes by when I don’t need a nail file.(Me editing this: 😂 but actually it’s a problem.)

So that’s all for today, I will see you guys next time ! If you want to find my other blog, here’s the link : My Interrupted Life .

(Click it!)

So… I’ll see you later, bye!

100 likes howw???

Hi guys, and welcome or welcome back to my blog!

So it’s around 4 o’clock on a random Tuesday in August and I just checked my analytics for the first time in a few weeks, and I just realized that my blog has officially recieved 100 likes in total which ( as you can imagine) I am really excited about!

So anyways, today I was going to do a normal post (actually, a poem. You’ll hear it next time!) but I thought it could wait (only a bit!) because I need to share with you guys my new blogging schedule (I had a look at my calendar and I figured it out. I was going to go with the option you guys liked the most, but on my post where I asked you about it, I got a really lovely comment from Evin about how I should be blogging according to my schedule, instead of trying to cram it into an already-packed day.

So yea, this is my new schedule, my apologies if sometimes I publish at like eight at night, (or don’t publish at all) it could be because I can’t think of anything, maybe I’m still working on it, etc. Please bear with me while I figure out how to do it. (thank you!😁).

Monday

I’ll be blogging on Monday, and on Monday I’m going to be doing my goals for that week (because I try to make goals. I fail sometimes. But I try, and that’s what matters, right!?)

Tuesday

I’ll be on my other blog, MyInterruptedLife and I really don’t know what I’ll be posting – generally lifestyle content, so if you want to read that, then… nothing can stop you from clicking on the link!

Wednesday (which I had to sound out to type)

So on Wednesday I’ll be probably be doing a random fun thing (it could be a book review, or maybe a random debate -we shall see!)

Thursday

On Thursday I’m going to be taking a break from both blogs because… I will probably be planning for the net week worth of blogging. But I will be doing a brain dump here (which I haven’t done since like….. online school, where I used to do one every day.)

Friday

On Friday I think I might take another break to plan out the post for the next day because…

Saturday/Sunday

And to end the week, I am bringing back the Animal Fun Facts post I used to do! If you’re one of the newer people to my blog, hi, I used to do this thing where I would pick an animal for that week, research it all week, and then do a ten fun facts post on Saturday/Sunday, whenever I get round to publishing it.

So….. I guess that’s it! Some details:

At the start of each month, I will share my BuJo spread (if the computer lets me upload it. I’ve been having some issues.) At the end of each month, I will share whether I achieved my goals for that month. When I do a Monday post, it will most likely have my goals for that week and did I achieve my goals for last week in it. oh, and that is the day I will put up my poll for which animal you want to find out about next. So… wish me luck and I will see you soon (tomorrow in fact) and…. bye!

I’m learning Spanish?!?!

Hi everyone! I recently found out that next year in school I was going to be taking Spanish as my language.

Not gonna lie, I want very excited (at first) because I really wanted German . But you know, now that I have Spanish, I may as well start getting used to speaking in Spanish with that accent that I really can’t replicate.

So anyways, I think that’s it. I will be publishing a really fun post tomorrow, so make sure you check that out soon.

Bye!

R.I.P Pearl (she was a good fish.) I’ll miss her😢

Hi guys. My fish died today. Her name was Pearl. I’m really sad.

This is what she looked like .(not my image.) I’m really sad that she died because she was probably my favourite out of all four fish (sorry to the other fish if they’re reading this. They probably aren’t.)

I never actually got a picture of her – if I did I would have showed you.

Anyways, today I feel really… sad. I didn’t expec any of them to die so soon because the person in the shop where we bought them said they would live at least eleven months before dying, and it’s only been around seven.

I don’t really know what the point of writing this was, I guess just to say good bye. I’ll miss you Pearl.

Bye for now.

My new layout…

Hi guys! So I have some very exciting news: I have re-designed my blog! If you want to see my new layout then go visit (or maybe you’re already on it, idk).

So today I am just going to explain how to navigate my new page, and…yeah.

But first, thanks so much to @Flora from @Flora’s Week Show for inspiring this layout. If you haven’t already seen her blog but you like mine, chances are you will love hers.

So anyways, I wanted to explain the menu bar first.

So on the menu bar I have home (which will take you back to the blog), about me(which will be where I write about me as a person), and contact me(which is where you can contact me if you have any questions, collab requests, or any advice/post ideas. If you have anything to say to me privately, ya girl’s got you.

So yeah, that’s my new menu bar, the rest is just a scroll-y thing. I think you get it. That’s all I have for today.

Bye!

Why do we need planning? reblog!

All of us have dreams and ambitions. Having reached this crucial stage of my life of thinking about my future, it occurred to me how important it is to plan and set goals! Steve Maraboli, an American writer, interestingly said: “If you don’t know exactly where you’re going, how will you know when you get […]

Why do we need planning? —

Hi everyone. I posted not long ago, but since then I have found this post by @Saaniasparkle who, fun fact, is one of my followers! I read this and was like, “how did she know I was having trouble planning posts?”

Father’s Day poem 💞💝

Hi everyone and happy Father’s Day! Today I want to share with you a poem I wrote for Father’s Day ( as has been my tradition for the past 4 Father’s Days).

I hope you enjoy!

Geometry, algebra,

Ratio and proportion too,

These are all the things I’ve learnt;

The things I’ve learnt from you.

How to put on my helmet,

How to tie my shoes,

I will never forget them,

These lessons taught by you.

You may have thought we’d grow apart,

And no longer be like we used to,

But your cherished words are still in my heart,

The things I’ve learnt from you.

From your loving child 💕

Ok, that’s it from me – for today….

see you next time!

BOOK REVIEW TIME!!😍

Hi everyone! How are you guys?

So yesterday I officially published my first two posts on my new blog. Have you seen them?

If you haven’t, I will link them down in the comments and you can go and check them out (as soon as you’re done reading this, of course!)

My new blog is a lifestyle blog called “My Interrupted Life” and I named it that because I started it during coronavirus, when my life IS being interrupted, so… the title is not a lie.

Enough rambling about that, it isn’t what you’re here for!

Anyways, today I really wanted to talk about books because I haven’t done a post about reading in forever and I think they’re really fun to write, especially since it gets me to pick up a book!

So today I’m going to be doing a book review on The Maskmaker’s Daughter by Holly Webb.

My rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK.

Do I need to say more?

Okay. I will.

This is the story of Colette, a young seamstress’s daughter living in Venice. She has never known her father and her mother refuses to speak of him.

One day a countess orders a dress from their shop, and, before she van get paid, Colette’s mother dies. That night, her father comes to the shop and takes her with him to his house. He is a wealthy maskmaker and uses magic on his masks. Soon Colette starts her magic training, too. But her father is making a mask for the same countess who didn’t pay Colette and her mother. However, the mask he is making for her is putting him under a very deep spell…

I really liked this book but I think it would have been interesting to get a bit more background on the characters who are less important, like perhaps Rizzo, the maskmaker’s apprentice, who is almost like his own son.

Overall it was a great story, and I really enjoyed reading it.

Exciting news!

Hi! Okay so, I have finished packing and everything, I finished it yesterday when I published my packing hacks post, and now I have some exciting news for y’all!

So yes, I did take a sharp turn on the Youtube channel/vlog thing, I do not want to do that anymore, but what I did do was create another blog, which is a lifestyle blog.

So yeah, I am super excited about that, I can’t wait to start on that website!

BUT don’t y’all worry, I’m still here and I was actually going to de-activate this website, but I decided to keep it because it is the first ever thing that I made and shared with the huge, diverse world and it’s really special for me.

So yeah, I haven’t actually published anything on my new blog RIGHT NOW, but I will as soon as I’m done with this post, because there really isn’t a point in you going to check out my new website when I haven’t even uploaded anything to it. But I am really excited and I can’t wait to see how I balance these two blogs, although I know for a fact that some people have like ten blogs and still post every day (what is their secret!!) so… I hope I can manage it. Anyways, that’s all for now….

See you soon, here and (hopefully) on my new blog too, which I will link in the comments, so… yeah. Bye!

(I love dogs. I wish I had one.)

Packing hacks+tips! How I pack…

Hi everyone!

So today I wanted to let you know that I will not be blogging for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (and possibly Saturday) because I have a school trip( or a field trip, or a residential, depends where you’re from) and I’m actually staying there for three days (which is two nights.)

However, to make up for that, I have some super fun posts and special surprises planned and I will let you know as soon as I am back of course.

Enough of that, I need to pack! So today I will be sharing some packing tips and hacks I have up my sleeve.

Okay, so first thing I do: MAKE A LIST. I cannot emphasize ( did I spell that right?) that enough! This is like, SUPER IMPORTANT because everyone’s been there, that sinking feeling where you have had a great day and then you realize you forgot something. Trust me, it ruins everything. So my tip for this is to write out your list on paper, instead of doing it on the computer. This is because then you can put that list into your suitcase, and you can make sure you have got everything before leaving. Because the only thing worse than forgetting something at home is forgetting something at your actual destination.

So, when making a list, divide it into these categories:

  • clothes
  • shoes
  • washing things (like towels, wash bag, etc.)
  • things you will carry in a separate bag (like in a tote or rucksack)
  • devices ( like phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) I sadly cannot carry any devices on me 😥
  • and extra things that don’t fit into the categories above (like books or journals)

Oh, and add your list to the list of extra things to pack because you will need it at the end of the trip. And maybe a pen so you can check off the things you have at the end of the trip (to be on the safe side!) One more thing: next to what you will need, write down how many you will be taking of them.

Second up: clothes/washing things

So what I do is that I go through my closet and pick out however many outfits I will need and then I wash them. I do this even if they are already clean, I don’t know why, it’s just something I do. Don’t ask.

So while the clothes are being washed, I do my washing essentials. I have a really pretty washbag I borrowed from my mum and that is what I’m using. So first, I look through my list and take out what I already have at home. Then I go out and buy whatever I don’t have. Then I arrange everything in my bag and put it aside.

Lol. That never happens. I arrange it, hate it, and arrange it again about seven times. Oh, and I roll up my towels.

So by then the clothes are done.

I fold them neatly and I always arrange them into sets for each day so it’s a lot less stressful when I am actually there.

Yes, I fold. I have been told hundreds of time to “roll not fold”, but I have a tip for folding clothes so they don’t get creased; I cut up some foam and put little wedges of it between the creases. They. Stay. Perfect.

However, I really hate folding t-shirts, so I mostly hang them up in my closet. But I can’t do that now, so I use a special technique to fold them, here is the video of it;

So… yeah, I guess that is it for clothes.

So when I was done with my clothes, I put in my shoes (I am bringing my trainers) in a plastic bag, and put in my washbag, also my towels, my hairbrush (because it wouldn’t fit in my washbag), and then the next step:

Put in the extra things and devices, and make sure that if you are carrying any devices they are safely tucked in between your clothes so that they don’t get damaged in whatever you are taking to your destination.

Then, last but not least, put anything you will be carrying in a separate bag into that bag ( which you might want to do closer to the time you leave, same with electronics,) and have a great trip!

Thanks so much for reading, hopefully I will see you on Saturday!

I need to ask you something!

Hi! Okay, so today I have a very important question for you:

So, I have been blogging for over a year now and when I started, I was like, “Oh my god, how do I even get this to start?”

And now, I find it really easy!

It just shows how much progress I have made over the past around 15 (yeah, fifteen) months!

So I was thinking, I would really like to build up from scratch and start a new blog, because

a) I think it’ll be fun to go through that whole process of building an audience again

b) This blog was just a starter to see how I find blogging and I never knew I would find it this fun

and c) I think I can handle both at once.

So far this is what I’m thinking…. but I just don’t know. I would have to check with my “manager” (aka my mum) and also find a way to manage both blogs…

So right now I’m thinking that I will check and if it’s okay then I might try running another blog OR if my parents are feeling extra nice maybe I could start a vlog as well (I mean noone has the time to sit and actually read a whole post) but…

For now it’s just an idea. Maybe tomorrow my imagination will take a sharp turn and I will not want to do it, so…

I don’t want to rush into this decision but I’m feeling pretty ambitious and I feel like I can do both so maybe…

I’ll let you know. One more quick update on the DIY blog I promised you – I am going to do it. Soon. I think. I hope. We shall see.

(I haven’t even gotten round to that, like, how will I manage two blogs! I can barely even manage one!)

Anyways, I think that is it. Bye!

Crochet projects! Showing you my latest creations…

Hi everyone! I am doing a DIY post but I have decided to move it to tomorrow because I have a very special post coming up tonight….

Anyways, I thought you might want something to entertain you for now, so I thought I would show you my current crochet projects and also my previous ones (how have I not done this before?)

So, first, I did talk to you once upon a time about crocheting a doll… well, here she is!

This is the doll I made and she is wearing her newest dress!

I named her Penelope. I think she turned out great! I’m really happy and, for a bonus, I’m going to show you another one of her cool clothes…

This is the original outfit I made for her!

Isn’t it pretty? I used some beautiful ombre yarn I had and I’m glad I did because I wish I had a dress like this!

Another one of my previous projects is actually one I made last month. This is Flopsy;

She took forever to make but she’s the cutest! However, I ran out of yarn halfway through making one of her ears and still had one leg left to do!

I had to buy some more white yarn to complete her and I accidentally bought it thicker than I needed it, but I adore her anyways.

Right now I’m also crocheting a top for myself but it hasn’t really taken shape yet, so I’ll show you as soon as it’s finished.

Thanks so much for reading! I am so proud of all my DIYs and creations, and I can’t wait to make more! I’ll be back later today, and I have a surprise post planned! See you then, bye!

Behind the scenes; MeWrites blog

Hi everyone! Its me. (But you knew that, or you wouldn’t be here right?)

Today I’m going to show you how to make a DIY laptop stand from a shoebox.

But first, I wanted to talk to you about something.

So I’ve been looking back at the DIY posts I’ve been doing and I have realized something.

I haven’t messed up in a single one.

I write this blog for me. I don’t make money from it and it’s not a business blog either. It’s me being me.

I only ever post original content and I do mess up! I am human and every human messes up.

But the thing is, I plan out all my DIYs very carefully with plans and that kind of thing. I don’t mess them up, but that’s because I work hard to make sure they will work before blogging about them.

I know you only see what’s on this page, but there is a lot of work I do behind the scenes of this blog. I spend around 45 minutes every day, blogging and brainstorming blog ideas.

I write and re-write and edit and re-edit. If you have a blog you also know it’s not easy. I spend time and effort on this and trust me! None of this content is taken from anyone else.

I have never stolen work and I have never needed to.

Blogging is not something I make money from – I blog for me!

I don’t copy. Anything. Ever. And I work hard for this!

Every day, I sit down and think about blogging. EVEN IF I don’t actually post, I always think about it. Sometimes I’m brainstorming, sometimes I’m playing around with new features, sometimes I just sit down and look through my posts.

All my DIYs are carefully planned and I try not to mess up. But I do. I hope you know how much I love blogging and how much I work on my website. I really do try to show as much of my reality as I can. But, because of internet safety, I can’t put pictures of me, or pictures of anything like that on here – I hope you understand.

Anyways, I am working on a new DIY. I am not doing a test version for this so I might mess up – but that’s fine!

Cleaning tips and hacks!

I actually have no idea who said this, but I like it LOL😂

Hi! How are you guys? Thanks for asking, I’m great too! So today I got home and went up to my room and I was like, “what. A . Mess.”

Do you have the same situation with your room? Of you do, then this is the post for you! Today I will be sharing some of my favourite cleaning hacks and tricks.

So tip one; start with the biggest thing in your room, which for me is my bed. I really don’t like making my bed that much, it takes a lot of time, but I really like seeing the finished effect. I also like to brighten up the area by my bed, so I decided to use my DIY dreamcatcher to give it some sparkle. One tip for making your bed look really good and welcoming is to fill it up with pillows. I actually sew or crochet most of my pillows so it is exactly the colours I like it. I use my old clothes which I don’t wear anymore to make them.

So now that the bed is made, I always check under the bed and remove any junk. Sometimes I use this area to store extra bedding. Right now I don’t need many big duvets and blankets so I’m keeping them under the bed.

So next I always do the big surfaces. Two of the biggest surfaces in my room are my desk, and this random ledge thingy I have in my closet. I also have a little bedside table with drawers but it isn’t huge, so I’m not going to do that just yet.

So for the random surface I have in my closet, I use that for books and my mirror and also for some random bits and bobs I have, like random sewing beads, thread, and just random fake nails, nail polishes, and just general misplaced stuff.

So first, I took everything off the surface and wiped it down. Then I opened up all the boxes I had and organized all the stuff there was in it. How I did this was I made three piles; things to go in the bin, things that should be somewhere else, and things that should be there and need to be organized.

So I obviously threw away anything that I did not need or that was small for me and I generally went through all the things that were there and anything that seemed too childish or not my style went bye-bye.

When I tidy my dresser surface I don’t like to have things out, like this box of glitter. Although glitter could be pretty on its own, throwing it in a box to match my colour aesthetics just made it look cleaner (and that’s what we want, right?)

Tip two; keep a dresser surface or even a random ledge like mine in a colour aesthetic, because it just helps make it look way more organized.

Then for the desk I simply removed everything and wiped it down, and then I put away things that should be away, and organized the rest. I like to use a big milkshake cup I have to hold all my crochet hooks and knitting needles. I also use an old vitamins box for my stapler, long ruler and biro pens.

So then I moved on to the bedside table, which has two drawers and is tucked neatly under the desk. Although, I don’t really like the arrangement I had, so I changed it and pushed the minitable to the other side of under the desk. Then I took everything off and, surprise! I wiped it down. Then I arranged some books and and used a succulent plant as a bookstand. I also put in a cup I got from DisneyLand as a pen holder and a glass I painted for another pen holder – this one for my colouring pens – and put in a cute keyring and also a trophy I have. Nightmare to daydream – fast.

Tip three; brush over the surfaces! Drawers can wait. First, make everything clean to the eye.

So for my windowsill, I opted for putting everything away and emptying the surface. Then… I think you can guess what I did, right?

I wiped it down. (I don’t even know when I’m cleaning and not wiping things down, honestly LOL). I arranged my plants and put my candles back because I love having them there – (my candles are shaped like hedgehogs and honestly, they are the CUTEST!) . I also wiped the windows because they were a bit dusty (don’t even ask. I have no idea why!)

So, next I did my toy corner and I’m not sure if any of you have the same thing maybe in a children’s bedroom, or if you just happen to be a tween like me(or a teen, I won’t judge) .

So I just made it look nice basically.

Tip four: keep toys and things in proper boxes – not childish ones! They will make it seem less like you’re five.

Of course, I am going to do a post on how to organize your drawers soon because seriously, I do need to organize my drawers so bad.

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you have been inspired to clean your room because it is literally so easy, just the starting part is hard.

Oh, and one more tip if you’re like me: do cleaning in short bursts of fifteen minutes each, then, if you still feel like cleaning, reset your timer and keep going! If you don’t, take it as a sign, go do something else until you feel like it.

That’s all, I’m not going to bore you with any more (I’m surprised you’re still reading!) so… I’ll go now. Bye!

Decorating my closet door!

Hi! Today’s post is all about decorating!

Today I will be decorating the inside of my closet door because I haven’t actually decorated it yet and it has been a while I have been in this room! So, today I will be decorating my side of my closet. I cannot wait!

So, before it was totally blank (and I’m not going to show you that because it really isn’t looking very great!)

I knew I wanted to decorate it according to my personality and use things that match the colour scheme, so I decided to hunt for some lovely posters and I’m glad I did!

Just look at those pretty things! I decided that these were so good, I just had to use them. And this will be my colour scheme then! Lavender with some bits of pink!

I also wanted some colourings, so I opted for one big A4 and one small A5. And they. are. great.

The photos came out a little blurry, but these colourings are actually perfect and I love them soo much.

I am busy. This is a fact. I have a calendar to mark off my days and a diary too, but I still don’t manage to stay organized. BUT I’m hoping this will change all that!

So! This is a planner which I bought and it was actually really cheap! I have been using it for the past week but I had literally no idea where to put it! So I was trying to find some other decor ideas, and I was like, “Wow. That would look really great on the closet door.”

It matches my theme and is just really pretty! I am so happy I bought this and will hopefully be using it a lot.

Another thing I think a closet door is incomplete without is a BIG POSTER!

I decided to use one I got from a magazine of Ariana Grande (because she is my favourite singer) and it is lavender too! What a coincidence, right?

So… yeah, this all looks really great, and synchronised, (if that’s how you spell it!) but I want something really pretty to break up all the purple because let’s face it, too much of anything is bad for you, right?

I was thinking about this and I remembered something a friend gave me recently – this:

So, yeah it is a peacock feather and I think it is absoloutely beautiful! I think it will work really well to break up the lavender and work as a decoration too and just generally look amazing!

I really didn’t want to overdo it but I felt like it needed something more.. so I chose to rip the label off a Nivea tin I had and fill it up. I chose to put some pom-poms earring extensions I made inside because I do use those quite a lot. They are DIYs so maybe I’ll show you how to make them sometime! I also put in some highlighters so that I could write on my plqnner. Anyways, I was now feeling like I had enough, because the only thing worse than not doing enough is doing too much, right?

Now onto the HARDEST part; deciding where everything goes!

I did some shuffling around and eventually I found this way of laying it out which I think looks great! I used Blu Tack to put up the posters and hold up the box, and it. looks. awesome.

So, this was the final result! I am so happy, it looks great and I love it! I think it is perfect.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you love it too (but you can have your own opinion because this is your world and I’m just in it).

If you haven’t already, then I urge you to go to my cereal vs milk post and vote! Thanks so much if you have voted – you know what? You can vote twice!

Anyways, I think I am going to stop there…. have a great rest of your day!!

Animals persevering – the cutest thing ever!!

Hi everyone! I am back, like promised and I will try to blog the most I can from now on, so don’t worry! I am here for real for real.( I know. I said that twice to emphasise it.)

So today I want to do another big long talk, which, when you’re me ( which is probably never) is actually really easy. I like to talk about things; it just helps to understand and express my opinion, even more during covid. ( there you go, I told you it wasn’t hard.)

Anyway, today I wanted to talk about perseverance, which isn’t as boring as it sounds. Especially when you just watched the cutest video of animals persevering today!7

To watch one of the most adorable examples, watch the video below;

So that is one of the videos I watched today and isn’t it the cutest thing? I love dogs.

So the next one is of a panda (and I love pandas soo much – they are like my favourite wild animals) and it really is just … you shall see! ( Ignore the first fifty seconds )

So in the first fifty seconds, we see the panda trying to leap into the ditch, but that is NOT what I wanted to show you guys. Did you see the panda climbing up the hill? I think that was like, one of the best examples of perseverance possible, like… the panda was so resilient!

That’s all I have to show you. Time to discuss. But first, which one was your favourite? I just want to know 🙂

So in the dog one, that dog really showed perseverance! He didn’t give up and he even used his problem-solving skills to get over his problem. It was cute and also a great example.

The panda! I loved the way it kept on trying and needed help – I mean, it’s okay to ask for help, right? It doesn’t make you incompetent or dependent – it makes you honest. Honest about how confident ou are with things. And as I have been learning a lot recently, honesty is the best policy, right?

Back to the panda. It showed determination and perseverance and courage and I just think this is another amazing example of how we are surrounded by perseverance and how it is crucial for all animals, not just humans! (Are humans even animals? Please, someone tell me!)

Anyway, can you find examples of perseverance around you? What can you persevere with? Food for thought.

I just wanted to add that I am so happy because I asked you guys to vote on whether cereal or milk have the priority in my other post which I will link down in the comments and you have been crushing that number ( and cereal is winning, I’m happy about that )

So… yeah, that is all for today. Tell me in the comments if you liked the videos, and which one was your favourite? I’m going to sign off for now, so….. bye!

Random debate about food ~ cereal vs milk

Hi everyone! Today is the day! I am going to tell you aaaall about the new debate happening in none other than my classroom!

Okay. This debate’s topic is….

Milk or Cereal? Which one has priority?

So, to be honest, I put the cereal in before the milk ( which is the sane thing to do, no offense to those who put milk in first) and I’m proud of it! But, sadly, for this random debate, I have decided not to be biased, unlike my kitkat debate where (at least I’m being honest) I was TOTALLY partial to snapping the chocolate (if you missed it and are going, “what are you going on about?” , then I’ll put the link to the post below. It would be sad if you never read it), however I don’t think I was very fair.( Normal, yes, but fair, no.)

So anyway…. enough of my rambling, let’s get on with this random debate!

So, ummm….

Anonymous person 1 will be fighting for milk, and anonymous person 2 will be fighting for cereal’s right over the bowl. Who can make the most good and not totally weird points in a minute? We’re gonna find out.

Let’s start. Person 1, on your marks, get set, go!

“I think milk should be put in first because then you can microwave it and not melt the cereal ( which can happen, according to this wacky website I found all about cereal) and … yeah.

And what if the milk is expired? Then you will have wasted food by pouring rotten milk all over perfectly innocent cereal.

Also, then the cereal doesn’t…. get soggy with the milk on top?

Also, with the cereal in first, it’ll splash everywhere!”

Okay, time up. Person 2, go!

“Well. Most cereal does NOT melt so it can be microwaved JUST LIKE MILK. One more thing: we have noses and we can use them to smell the milk if we think its expired. It will be lumpy and smell bad – and we have expiration dates for a reason you know!

If you put cereal in first, you can measure how much you want. What if you put too much milk in! Talk about wasting food. Also, cereal does NOT get soggy. FACT. Cereal is lightweight and has gaps so the milk will not splash and will FALL THROUGH THE GAPS. And when you pour milk OVER CEREAL you get that lovely crackly sound which everyone adores. “

Okay, time up for you too. Who made the most valid points? This time, you get to decide.

This is a question that must be answered! So go and tell your sister, your neighbour, your neighbour’s sister, whoever! I need to know the answer to this BIG question!

A fun rant abut food ~ Kit-Kats

Hi ! If you’ve been here before, hi again!

Today I am doing that rant I promised you about food! Yay!

So, I’m going to start with a photo.

Okay. So in this photo, someone has just gone ahead and taken a bite out of their Kit-Kat WITHOUT snapping it first.

It looks strange, right?

That’s because it is strange.

Here’s why.

In May 1957, Donald Gilles invented a tagline for the chocolate bar Kit Kat.

Read this. Yet some people choose to ignore the very important stage of snapping the kitkat and just shove it in their mouth?

Let me clarify. The company creates a tagline which clearly states you must break the chocolate before consuming, yet some choose to ignore this and just eat it? Just like that?

There is a crease thingy on the chocolate. It’s meant to be broken!

🤯Think about the chocolate manufacturers. They must have spent hours trying to make chocolate with creases. We shouldn’t waste their efforts!

Okay. That’s the end of this vent.

I know I talked a lot about it being wrong to not snap Kit Kats, but if you are one of those people who just likes to eat it like it is, I get it.

You can stick to your opinion, I’ll stick to mine.😁

Thanks so much for reading all the way through my random rant! Next time, crisp packets. You will see what I mean. Soon.

In the meantime, poke around my website and find a blog from like, three months ago! Might be interesting. Oh, and remember to tune in tomorrow when I am going to be launching a surprise post specially for you guys! See you then and there. Bye!

A random ramble about totally irrelevant things because I can’t think of anything else to do 🙃

Did you know that yesterday was National Lost Dogs Awareness Day? It was also International cherry cheesecake day. How could I not know this?

I don’t like cheesecake, but I know someone (ahem, younger sibling) who ADORES it. I love dogs. I mean, I really love dogs. I mean, I really, really love dogs. And yet, I was not aware of this momentous occasion?

I know I’m talking fancy. Because yesterday was also International Talk Like Shakespeare Day! I mean, I think he talked like that. He was an actor, wasn’t he? No?

Oh. I looked it up. He was a playwrite, a poet AND an actor. Who knew.

Back to cheesecake and dogs. But wait. Something smells fishy.

I know what it is! How have I come THIS far without mentioning that today is also National Sense Of Smell Day? Hmmm.

So, as you can see, I have just rambled on and on about what today is and what yesterday was and how much I love dogs.

Honestly, I’m surprised you’re still reading.

Anyway, I’m going to end this post now because I don’t think you’re reading anymore. Bye!

DIY card tutorial!

Hi everyone! So earlier I said I would do a DIY card tutorial and here I am!

As usual, let’s start with what you’ll need;

  • 1 sheets of white paper
  • A pair of scissors ✂️
  • Coloured pens or pencils

Okay. Should we start?

First, take your paper. Fold it so that the two short sides meet in the middle, like so:

Now, fold it in half where the two sides meet. Next, cut it to look like one half of a heart but make sure to leave some of the crease. Like shown in the photos;

Now open it up and you will have a beautifully even opening card!

Keep it closed, because here’s where your colouring pens/pencils come in handy; draw a ribbon going from one side of o the other on the card. If you want, you can draw around real ribbon, or even glue on a strip of satin – but remember to cut it in the gap so you can open it up!

There! I chose to do pink and then colour it in. It’s not perfect, but I love it!

Now the fun part; write a message to whoever it is you’re giving it to. I am writing:

There it is! Tell me what you think in the comments. Who are you making this card for? See you later!

Earth Day! 🌍🌎🌏

Hi and happy Earth Day! Today is the day we think about our world and how to make sure it stays healthy.

I have talked a bit about taking care of the Earth before, but today I am doing it again, because how important is it to make sure we love on a sustainable planet?

Okay. I have a challenge for you!

Make a pledge to help the planet. Can you tell me about your pledge on the comments? It could be by picking up your litter, or not wasting water, or putting out a bird feeder. Speaking of bird feeders, you can make an even bigger difference by recycling your old bottles into bird feeders. Want to know how? Time for a little DIY-ing!

Alright. Are you ready to start? Let’s do it!

You will need:

  • A plastic bottle
  • scissors
  • String ( make sure it’s thick like cord)
  • bird feed
  • tape ( masking tape also works)
  • Paper and pens ( this is optional)

So. Let’s do it !👍🥳

Grab your plastic bottle. Make sure it is dry. This is mine.

If there is a label, go ahead and rip it off!

Get the sharp scissors and cut the top half of the bottle off, until it looks like this:

Now, you need the scissors again; punch two holes opposite each other using the blades.

Thread the string or cord through both holes. Like this:

I chose to use pink string, but you don’t have to!

Now, get your tape. I’m using a mix of clear and my favourite shiny tape. It’s a little messy, but hey! It’s a learning experience. This is what it looks like now:

Now, it’s time to fill it up with birdseed.

Don’t be scared to fill it up to the top – but not too much!

There! Now, put it where the birds will see the food. I recommend by a window of your house or somewhere you can see it from. That way, you will be able to see all the birds that come and eat.

There you have it! Plastic bottle bird feeders. Have a great rest of Earth Day! If you try this tutorial, can you show me the result in the comments? Also, how are you helping the environment? I can’t wait to find out! See you next time, right here at MeWrites.com.

🌍Bye for now!🌏

Easter egg designs and fun ideas

Hi and happy Easter! What’s your favourite part about Easter? Mine is all the fun designs you can see on the eggs. So I looked up some eater egg designs and these are some of my favourites:

I love this one because it’s really creative. Using the brown colour of the shell to make it look like a burger – you have got to admit that’s pretty genius, right?

These definitely caught my eye and I think you can see why. As much as the design above was creative, this one is simple but effective.

These ones are super bright and they just stand out. I love the bold colour and just look at that blend! I really love tie-dye, and these are just amazing wwith the prefect amount of pop!

These are unique. I don’t think I could make such a lovely design on eggs! It doesn’t help that they are spheres. But obviously this isn’t their first try, right?

Amazing. These are just so different! It’s so… special. You can tell these were designs very heartfelt.

Before you say anything or get suspicious, these have been painted. I think they have used a skewer to paint it though, because look at that detail! Isn’t it great?

And now, one you may actually be able to replicate at home:

Isn’t this so cute?! Amazing for little children and super easy to replicate. Happy Easter!

Failure?

Failure. A strange word. A strange thing.

What is failure?

Here is the dictionary definition:
Failure: a lack or shortage of success.

How strange is that? That’s all it says. That’s all it’s allowed to say. That poor dictionary is compelled to tell us these lies. How sad.

Did you ever stop to think about the real meaning of failure? And what about the meaning of success?#

Failure is not making a mistake. Failure is not learning from that mistake. We are humans. We make mistakes. But what’s important is realising your mistake. But that’s only the first step. When you realise your mistake, you try to fix it, right?

Of course you do. We do anything to be forgiven for our mistakes.

But I think the really important thing is learning from that mistake so you don’t make it again.

And it’s hard! I’m not going to lie, I have made a mistake once and then maybe repeated it a year or so later. But when I look back on that second mistake, I don’t see why I did it. Imagine this: you took a cookie from the jar and it broke. (The jar, not the cookie.) Everyone can see you did it. And you probably get punished. Something like no more cookies for that week. And you hate that punishment! So you decide to never take a cookie without asking again. A year later, your relative comes to stay and gets a jumbo pack of your favourite cookies. You can’t stop thinking about them at night.

You think they won’t notice if you sneak one cookie. So into the kitchen you go. The cookie jar is still right where it was a year ago. And the memories come flooding back.

“But I’m more mature now and I can handle it,” you tell yourself. So you reach for the jar, but it topples over and smashes open. Your family is not happy.

You made the same mistake again! If you were hungry in the night, the best thing to eat is fruit.

But you didn’t; and now you get double the punishment for not learning from it.

Sknaht rof gnidaer! Did you fail to understand? It’s better than failing to try and understand! That was Thanks for reading backwards.

Keep trying, keep failing, keep smiling, and keep trying again! Bye!

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

I know what you’re wondering. Why did I use capitals for every word in the title? Good question.

Today I found this great book called Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining. It’s a book of quotes and I’ve only read a little bit of it so far, but I found it so great I thought I should share it with you. Here is the front cover of the book:

And inside there are all these amazing quotes! Here, I’ll list some;

“Perhaps our eyes need to be washed by our tears once in a while, so that we can see life with a clearer view again.” – Alex Tan

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” -Henri Matisse

“Mighty oaks grow from little acorns.” – Unknown

“If you love life, life will love you back.” – Arthur Rubinstein

“All the statistics in the world can’t measure the warmth of one smile.” – Chris Hart

“Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.” – Chinese proverb

“Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” – J.M. Barbie

“The tests of life are not meant to break you, but to make you.” – Norman Vincent Peale

I hope you loved these quotes just as much as I did. Want to read more? Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining has these and many more.

I really recommend this book. Maybe it’ll make you smile when you want to cry. Maybe it’ll make you determined when you feel aimless. Maybe it’ll change the way you look at things, just like it did for me.

Happy Saturday!

Funniest Food Quotes

Hi there! Warning: this post may cause extreme laughter. I don’t really have anything specific to post about, so I decided to get the funniest food quotes I could find off the internet and put them right here! Enjoy!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade

I know, I know, I haven’t done any special post or anything or even checked my account for the past week and I didn’t mean to, I just got caught up in the pace of life and this is the only moment all week I have found where I’m not rushing to do something like violin practice, or a maths assignment, or watching a science presentation all about the rotation and revolving of the Earth, or… You get it. The list goes on. I didn’t forget about blogging; It just became my last priority. The point is, I’m so sorry. I haven’t even removed the countdown to International Pi Day, which I will do now. One sec.

Okay. Done. Today, I want to talk about this quote;

Of course, some people put their own spin on it, like…

Or…

So, there are many variations. I love this quote; and I don’t think I truly understood it when I first heard it. I heard my mum saying it when I was seven and I was like, “Of course make lemonade, yum!”

But that is not what this quote means. (Although I do like lemonade).

It means, lemons are sour. And lemonade is… not as sour. SO, when life gives you something sour, or a bad situation, make lemonade, or make it into something good! See the brighter side of the situation. See the bad side of the situation. Then turn it around. It sounds a lot easier than it really is though, not gonna lie. Because sometimes, when something doesn’t go as planned, you can just want to curl up and cry. And I am also not going to lie about this; it makes you either feel better- or way worse. But what’s important to know is that you CAN control what happens next. You CAN sit there and cry, or you CAN go out there and accept it as a challenge. You can go with the flow, just taking things as they come, or you can stress about what you think might happen. You can look forward to tomorrow, or you can look back on yesterday. The choice is yours. Sometimes, acceptance is vital. Other times, it isn’t. Sometimes, just being passive can really help. Being passive; looking back on yesterday with a smile, and waiting for tomorrow with a laugh. Its hard at first; but trust me, it will make you feel more in control of your circumstances. I’m going to sign off for now, but here is my challenge for you; unplug. Accept things. Be proud of how you did. Be excited for what you will do. Be in the moment.

Happy Mothers’ Day! (for tomorrow)

Hi everyone! Happy Mothers’ Day! As you know, I love to celebrate everything, from National Peanut Butter Day from International Pi Day( which is actually tomorrow, but I am adding a post on that later, because I don’t think it’s as important as this😁). So how could I not do a special post on Mothers’ Day?

There are a few quotes above which I found (thank you internet), and thought were so great! Have you read them? No? Do it now!

You may be asking, “Why are you making me look at quotes, Shiny?”

Well, you’re about to find out. Here’s a few most heart- warming quotes I could find, followed by one I wrote myself!

Aren’t these quotes so sweet!

Read on for more!

Let me know if you want me to make a slideshow of these quotes!

Did you adore these quotes as much as I did? And now, here is mine;

“A life without a mother is like a sky without a sun. You could never find your way.”

Happy Mothers’ Day for tomorrow! See you then for a special post. Have you seen the countdown to International Pi Day? I thought the last quote fitted in well because it says “The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation.” And some mathematicians are still figuring out what pi is! Anyways, you will see me tomorrow with a new post and will I see you in the comments? Can you tell me what your favourite quote was? Bye for now!

No Offense! and other misintextpretations

Photo by Vera Arsic on Pexels.com

Hi, sorry, I haven’t posted for a while. I couldn’t think of anything to post about. But on the bright side, today I did come up with something. Anyway, I want to talk about the term ‘no offense’. When someone starts a sentence with “no offense”, it generally means offense. And it’s a way of covering up the fact that you’re saying something unkind. Me and my friends were discussing this a few days ago (virtually) and we actually had mixed opinions. Of course, we all respect that- everyone can have their own tastes and choices. But I don’t think we realize the true meaning of our words!

For example, when your friend isn’t having a great hair day, and you might say, “No offense, but did you brush your hair this morning?” It’s hard. I mean, really really hard. You don’t want to make them feel bad but you just feel compelled as their friend to tell them; and I have been in that situation. What I think is, if we can say it starting with no offense, we can not say it at all. You don’t want to offend someone, but by saying “no offense”, you really make your situation more difficult. You speak up and your friend feels bad. And then they say “Is it really that bad?”

Which is even worse! Their feelings are hurt and this is the worst part where we either have to be totally honest or totally lying. And you can’t even be diplomatic about it because they expect you to say yes or no. Isn’t it just better to keep your thoughts to yourself? That way, you can avoid an argument or hurting them, and soon you’ll get used to how they look with messy hair!

There is another way to express what you think without an argument; here, I’ll write it like a script.

You are online with your friend. They turn on their camera and you see they aren’t looking so great today.

You say hi. They say hi back.

You: Did you do something different with your hair? It looks so cool!

Friend: Oh, I think I forgot to brush it. You really like it?

You: It’s unique, but I like it! It looks awesome!

Friend: Thanks!

End of script.

Ideally, this should work. It always does for me!

Another issue I want to discuss is mistintextpretations. No, that wasn’t a typo. misinTEXTpretations. Before you read on, can you have a think about what this means? You can tell me in the comments. I’ll wait. *La la la*

Okay, if you looked in the dictionary, its not there. I made up this word. It means A misinterpretation of a text, email, or any remote form of communication.

In basic terms, here’s an example;

Your friend buys a new jacket and sends you a photo. It’s great! So you type back, “That’s a really nice jacket”. But your friend reads it and thinks you’re being sarcastic; they reply, “I can’t believe you said that to me!” Misunderstanding number two. You think they’re really happy that you liked it and you text, “What else should I have said?” It’s all going wrong. Your friend sees and messages, “Why do you have to be so unkind! If you didn’t like it, say so!” They are really upset and don’t respond. You suddenly realize what happened.

In times like this, all those two friends really need to do is work it out. They should tell each other what they thought was happening, and also say sorry.

Another thing is the DREADED CAPS LOCK. See? I did it there! You go to press the shift key without looking at the keyboard. Your finger hits caps lock and you don’t realize. Next thing you know, your friend thinks you’re shouting at them. Not a great scenario.

And to round it all off, the sarcastic IDC. It means I don’t care. And it can really hurt someone! Teenagers especially use it a lot. I mean a lot. And it can be something you wave off as sarcasm but really, not everyone takes it that way. A lot of people say it when they don’t really mean it and people… We take offense. Very easily. And when you tell someone something that’s really important to you, and they say IDC… It hurts. It really, really hurts. Then another text comes through saying, “JK!” (Just kidding.) And you feel like they’re just trying to cover up the fact that they just don’t care.

Anyway, give it a think! Have you ever misintextpreted? Or has anyone ever misintextpretated what you’ve said? Can you think of any other lockdown struggles for me to blog about? Tell me in the comments.

Also, how are you doing? Are things looking up where you live? Are there any other blogs or websites you recommend checking out? Oh, and don’t forget; I appreciate every single one of your views, likes and comments. Thank you for listening.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Photo by Prateek Katyal on Pexels.com

Hi everyone! I am so sorry for not posting yesterday… or the day before… but I am doing a make-up post right now. I didn’t post today because I was a bit busy. Anyway, today is international women’s day. Another thing: this is going to be my regular posting time on weekdays from now on, so I hope you’ll still be able to read my blog! Anyways, I’ll always be here if you want to read one of my older posts or share your thoughts on a post. Or request a future post.

Today I want to talk about being there for each other. Which is important, right? With the lockdown, and the dreaded technical issues, we really need to be there more than just physically. We need to be there for each other mentally. I know you’re wondering what I’m talking about. I am talking about knowing that at the end of the day, we have our friends and family to support us. And I am so lucky to have you guys, the readers of my blog, to support me. Anyway, here is my challenge for you; let someone know that you’re there for them.

Thanks for reading! See you tomorrow!

WORLD BOOK DAY!!!

Photo by Max Vakhtbovych on Pexels.com

Hi! I am so happy you joined me on this historic day! Its world book day! Yay! I love this day every year because I get to talk all about books all day! (It has nothing to do with being able to dress up, though. Okay, maybe I love dressing up too. Who doesn’t?)

I accidentally put the title in capitals but I am going to keep it that way because it perfectly expresses my excitement. I have a very busy day and a very special post coming up today, so look out! I know, I know, I haven’t told you who I am yet. I am Chloe from Chloe by design, making the cut. And yes, I put together my outfit. Anyway, since I have another post coming up, I think I’ll sign off by saying this; you need to try new books and discover new books. Happy World Book Day!

Crochet a doll

Hi there! Today, I have very, very, very exciting news! Did I mention that it is very exciting? Oh, I did. Anyway, I am working on a new project and I am really excited (could you tell?).

This news is so big you have to sit down. Okay, chances are you’re already sitting, so hold on to your hats! I am trying to crochet a doll! You might be wondering, “why is that such big news, Shiny?”. Well here is the answer; I am following a pattern I found in one of my magazines and I have never been able to complete a pattern before. I don’t have that kind of patience. But this time, I will. This is not just any doll. It has three dresses – yes, three- a sunhat, a headband, and a little shoulder bag!

Did you know I also happen to have a doll’s suitcase she can keep her clothes in? This is so exciting! So here is the plan; I have already crocheted the head, and I have also did the hair. Instead of two ponytails with ringlets, I did a bob cut because it looks cuter. Its skin is peach and the hair is orange, and I embroidered black eyes because I didn’t have those stick-on ones that you use for toys normally. I had to use bobble stitch to make the nose and it was hard, I got it wrong so many times. But I goy it in the end and that is all that matters, right? For the mouth, I used pink yarn to embroider a smile. It’s looking so cute!

The next step is the body… I am going to have to watch something while I do it because the body is worked in rounds. In crochet, rounds are pretty boring, honestly, but they build up quickly so I don’t think I’m in for more than three hours of crocheting! In the original pattern there is just skin underneath the dresses but I am thinking out of the box and I am going to make it pajamas so that when its bedtime she can have built in PJs. After, I have to do two arms and two legs. Then I have to sew them all together.

Unfortunately, the dress’ skirt is made from pom-pom yarn. I used all of mine on my pencil case, which I knitted. That is why I have to find a way to replace it. Flowers! That’s it! Instead of the usual dark blue torso and pompom skirt, I think I’ll do a lilac torso and a pink skirt with flowers on the side.

I will see how it goes and I will keep you posted. Bye!

Ten things you might not have known about me

Hi there! How are you doing? Today I am having one of those days where I don’t really have anything to talk about. So, I decided to share a few (non-personal) things about me.

  • Number one: I am really, very, extremely scared of spiders. I hope to get over this, because its not really their fault they scare me.
  • Number two: Something weird I eat… Oh, I love pears with herb sauce.
  • Number three: The best advice I have ever gotten- probably to put myself in other people’s shoes. Even if I disagree. Especially if I disagree, really.
  • Number four: I don’t like it when people copy me without asking. Its like, you wear a new piece of clothing that’s really cool, and then your friend shows up the next day in the same thing… its annoying, not going to lie.
  • Number five: I love celebrating things! Even little things, like National Peanut Butter day( yes, its a thing)!

Bye for now!

Flora’s Questions and my Answers

If you had to change one thing about the world, what would you do?

hmmm…. I think I would make it so that everyone is accepted and appreciated for who they are, no matter what, because let’s be honest, everyone deserves that. 🤍

When and why did you start blogging?

I had to go all the way back to my first post to answer this; I started blogging on the 26th of January 2020, and fun fact, my blog started as a writing blog, but I changed it a while after to a personal blog. (I also have another blog, which I started on June 7th 2021, it started and still is a lifestyle blog!). I started blogging because I wanted to share my love of writing with the world. 🤍

What’s your best memory?

When I first saw my younger sibling, hands down. I still have the cardigan I wore that day! 🤍

What inspired you to start blogging?

like I said earlier, I wasn’t really inspired, more like I wanted to make a difference in the world. And I still do! 🤍

What motivates you to blog?

there’s actually a lot of things that motivate me to blog. A few of them are;

  1. I love writing and sharing my thoughts and opinions
  2. I really enjoy the whole feeling when I publish a post that I’m really proud of. Speaking of, I think the graphic design for this post is my favourite yet.
  3. I love it when other bloggers comment on my posts with something I didn’t know or their prespective because I really like seeing things from a lot of angles.🤍

Have you ever questioned blogging?

in short : yes. Back when I started my blog, I started with one post idea. One. I published that and a few other posts and then I completely ran out of ideas. I was very close to just de-activating my blog, but then the whole Coronavirus lockdown came up (WordPress just told me that coronavirus isn’t a word. Make it make sense.) and I had a bunch of things that I sort of needed to get off my chest. So I kinda remembered, oop- I have a blog! And that’s when I started writing, editing, posting, and interacting in the community. And now I’m really proud of where I am with both my blogs, and I have a list of over a hundred post ideas!

How often do you write?

Well I do write/edit a bit of a post every day. Even if it’s just five minutes, I still try to write a little bit every day.

What’s your favourite season?

Autumn, which is a really unpopular one, for some reason. I love the warm, golden-ness of it. Also I love going into the new school year.

What are your goals for next month?

a few of them are;

  1. to have a consistent routine
  2. to sleep in on weekends (because I get up really early on school days)
  3. to try my best in everything even if it’s something really small.

What are some of your pet peeves?

I have a post on this, which I wrote when I was feeling particularly stingy. Anyway, one of my biggest ones is, for some reason, I don’t like going to bed/waking up in a messy room. I don’t mind if there’s a mess in my room during the day, but I’m kind of a clean freak when it comes to waking up/going to bed. Is it just me? I don’t know.

My questions;

  • if you could go somewhere for one day, where would you go?
  • if you could meet a famous person, who would it be and why?
  • what’s your dream career? (this doesn’t have to be a real career, it can be anything! e.g: mine is advert critic 😅)
  • if you could improve one thing about WordPress, what would it be? (no hate WordPress, please don’t disable my blog)
  • what was your first dream job and how old were you? (I was five and I wanted to be a hairdresser… no.)
  • what is your favourite animal?
  • what is a pet you wish you had but are not allowed to have? (for me, dog!)
  • if you could ask me one question, what would it be?(you can also answer in the comments!)
  • if you could make a tag, what would it be? (you can actually do this! ✨The power of blogging✨)

I nominate you!!!!!

So… that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this random (yet fun) post and I do have a few posts coming up… stay tuned!!
